Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the Cinnamon Filling:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup fresh blueberries (you can use frozen if needed)
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a small saucepan, warm the milk and water until just lukewarm (about 100°F). Add melted butter and the egg to the milk mixture, whisking well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir to combine. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
2. Make the Filling
- While the dough is rising, combine softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl to make the cinnamon filling. Set aside.
3. Roll and Assemble
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 12×9 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread the cinnamon butter evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle the blueberries evenly over the cinnamon mixture.
- Carefully roll up the dough, starting from one long side, and pinch the edges to seal.
- Slice the roll into 9-12 even pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
4. Bake the Rolls
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
5. Make the Glaze
- While the rolls are baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
- Once the rolls are done, drizzle the glaze generously over the warm rolls.
