Classic Tiramisu

Ingredients:

  • 250g mascarpone cheese
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 200g ladyfingers (savoiardi biscuits)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cream Mixture:
    • Beat the egg yolks with sugar until creamy and pale. Fold in the mascarpone until smooth.
    • In a separate bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whites into the mascarpone mixture.
  2. Dip the Ladyfingers:
    • Combine the cooled coffee and liqueur (if using) in a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee, ensuring they are not overly soaked.
  3. Assemble the Tiramisu:
    • Layer the dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of a serving dish or individual glasses.
    • Spread a layer of the mascarpone mixture on top. Repeat the layers, finishing with mascarpone.
  4. Chill and Serve:
    • Dust the top with cocoa powder. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best flavor.

Tip: Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint before serving for a touch of elegance!
